Join artist and educator Samira Mian for Patterns & Pastries, a relaxed and sociable creative evening at iconic Lisboa Patisserie in West London.
For this second outing at Lisboa Patisserie - we get to twirl our compasses!
In the three-hour session, Samira will guide you step by step through the construction of an Islamic geometric pattern. Starting with a plain piece of paper, you’ll use a compass and straightedge to draw layers of circles and lines, discovering how a beautiful geometric pattern emerges from the underlying grid. You’ll then outline, trace and tile your pattern before transferring it onto watercolour paper and bringing it to life with watercolour pencils and paints.
Along the way, enjoy Portuguese pastries and a drink, with demonstrations, tips and guidance from Samira throughout. All are welcome, no experience is needed and all resources & materials are provided for attendees aged 14+. No previous drawing or painting experience is needed and all materials are provided — simply come along, learn something new and enjoy an evening of patterns, pastries and good company.
Step by step PDF guides are emailed to you to accompany all pattern(s) taught at the workshop. The patterns can be be painted repeatedly, trying out different colour schemes and materials. If your're not sure which resources to use at home, there's plenty for you to try out at the workshop. I also have a list of recommendations you can check out.

If 7 to 14 days in advance of the workshop: I can transfer your place to an equivalent workshop on an alternative date.
Less than 7 days in advance of the workshop: I’m afraid I am unable to offer a refund nor transfer to an equivalent workshop on an alternative date. I appreciate that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may mean that you can’t attend, so please do consider sending along a friend to take your place. I would need their name and contact details prior to the workshop.
